Planning the Film Review

Greenshaw High School and Buckett Pictures presents Ample Media's  'Obsession'. The film stars Amy Johnson who plays the best friend's girlfriend who becomes captured, Morgan Curtis playing the obsessive stalker and Ben Lunn the boyfriend whose world becomes a nightmare after his girlfriend is taken. Unknown actors, but they depict their characters with precision and beauty; creating and acting the fear and rage that would occur within a real life circumstance.

A five minute chilling social realism film presenting the attitudes and life of a stalker as well as the extremes that are created to capture the victim. A stalker becomes obsessed with his best friends girlfriend. Doing whatever he can to get her into his sight which eventually leads to his ruin and ultimately death. Part of the drama of this film is for the first part, we, the audience are unknown to who the stalker is and how they're of relation to the couple. Inclining film watchers to want to continue watching to find the big reveal of the stalker to both the audience and the victim (Amy Johnson).  Throughout the five minutes the audience experiences the turmoil that a stalker creates in trying to achieve a goal he created for himself. In which he kills his victim with his uncontrolled anger issues which results to his own death at the very end.

Directed by Karl DeHavilland, Screenplay by Ciara Byrne, Director of Photography Karl DeHavilland, Editing Process by Frankie Andrews and Karl Dehavilland.

The film begins abruptly presenting a couple getting ready for a night out when the girlfriend (Amy Johnson) receives a text from an unknown number.  From the first instances director Karl DeHavilland creates the undertones of danger, social realism and mystery. Capturing the audience with swift camera movements and editing techniques. David Buckette says that the 'swift camera movements are perfectly excuted' and 'resemble to professional attributes'.  The unknown text message leaves the audience asking themselves who could it be and how are they related to the plot. Exempting elements of the enigma code which is a popular trait in Hollywood movies.

The film as whole is cleanly cut together, cleverly edited and tells a real story. Music from 'Sony Ericson' featuring the popular band 'The Neighbourhood' is a lighthearted instrumental that heightens the dark elements placed upon this five minute social realist film.

'Obsession' creates a dramatic introduction to Social Realism genre highlighting key issues of today's society. Kidnaping, Suicide, and Manslaughter. The borderline main aspects of the film is the continuous obsession and stalker issues. Likening to real life issues as well as the extreme facts of suicide and manslaughter. Drawing attention to crimes that aren't presented in the media as much. The film draws inspiration from exisiting films such as 'Fishtank', 'Adulthood', 'Kidulthood' and 'This Is England'. Exhibiting attributes from strong social realist genre movies.

The film presents the modern day dangers that teens on a regular basis face with the usage of social media. With the ever increasing dangers that it offers such as the stalker issues, as well as the apps. As featured in the film 'Find my friends' allows contacts to have their location pinpointed. An exact gateway to events that are presented in the film. As Kelly Roberts, the girlfriend gets caught up in the whirlwind of social media dangers
